# Digitise your photos

**You don't need to be tech-savvy to digitise your photos.** Whether you have just a few treasured images or boxes of old albums, there are plenty of easy ways to turn them into digital copies ready for your story.

### 1. Ask someone you know

A family member, neighbour, or friend can help you take photos or scan them.

### 2. Use your phone’s camera

Lay the photo on a table in good light and take a picture from above.

### 3. Try a simple scanning app

* [Google PhotoScan](https://www.google.com/intl/en/photos/scan/) (free)
* [Photomyne](https://photomyne.com/) (very easy)
* **iPhone Notes** app > new note >camera icon or paper clip> scan documents > scan > save

These apps straighten, crop and clean up the photo for you automatically.

### 4. Find an organisation with a scanner

Libraries, community centres, Officeworks, Men’s Sheds and local photo stores often have scanners you can use - and staff who are happy to help.

### 5. Use a digitising service

Professional companies can scan your photos for you and return digital copies.

### 6. Organise your photos

Create simple folders like Childhood, Weddings, Family, Holidays.

### 7. Don’t stress about perfection

Old photos carry history - scratches and all.

And remember - you’re always welcome to send us a message if you have any questions.
